The first three treks based on this concept are situated near the Tibetan border.They provide spectacular views of the mountains along with beautiful hill terracing and Rhodoendron forests.
Among the ethnic groups residing in the region are Tamang, Magar, Sherpa, Gurung , and Brahman,each group has its own values and tradition yet all live together in harmony. There are many small colourful hamlets and farmsteads on a route that traverses traditional farmland where rice,wheat,maize and millet are grown.
The Kalinchok trek in particular provides spectacular views of the mountains to the north, the upper stretches of the Sun Koshi river can be seen to the south. The early stages of the trek are particularly colourful in spring through thick Rhododendron forest.From the highest altitude of Kalinchowk (3579m) there are some splendid views of Annapurna, Lamjung, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Shisha Panga , Langtang, Dorjee Lakpa, Jugal Himal, Amabamori, Gauri Shanker, and Numbur Himal.
There is the opportunity to visit a prominent temple for Hindus constructed to worship the Goddess .Two natural springs originate from this region,Sundhara and Tama, these provide the main sources of water for the Sun Koshi and Tama Koshi (rivers). The journey ends at the district headquarters Charikot where we overnight before travelling back to Kathmandu the next day.
