Arun Valley and Makalu Base Camp Trekking: 21 days Itinerary: 18 days camping trek.

This region is blessed with an incredible diversity of natural beauty and culture, many seasoned travellers to Nepal find trekking here to be some of the best available in Nepal .The trek bisects two of Nepals highest mountains, Everest and Makalu, a region rarely visited by tourists . It provides some of the best panoramas in Nepal with magnificent views of Mt.Everest, Makalu, Lhotse and Pumori dominating events. Sherpas, Rai and Limbus are the main inhabitants of this region.

We trek north up the Arun river to Sedua and Num, then cross Barun La (4110m) into the upper Barun khola valley for a close encounter with Makalu.

Day 01: Kathmandu / fly Biratnagar / drive to Hille (3 hours drive) / overnight.
Day 02: Hille / Tuttse: A gentle uphill trek to Tuttse / overnight.
Day 03: Tuttse / Dandagaon: trek / Tinjure Phedi on to Dandagaon / overnight .
Day 04: Dandgaon / Chairnpur: follow the ridge down to Piluwa Khola on to Chainpur / overnight.
Day 05: Chaninpur / Khandbari: Early morning, cross Hinwan and Sabha Khola to Khandbari / overnight.
Day 06: Khandbari / Chichila: early morning trek to Bhotebas 3 hours / trek to ridge top village of Chichila / overnight.
Day 07: Chichila / Seduwa: following some good views of Makalu / trek down to Num / arrive Num village / splendid views continue to Seduwa / overnight.
Day 08: Seduwa / Dhari Kharka: trek to Tashigaon 3 hours / steep ascent for further 2 hours to reach Dhari Kharka / overnight .
Day 09: Dhari Kharka / Mumbuk: Today is a fine trekking day we trek down to a turquoise lake before travelling on through the Shipton Pass (Kongua-La 4,127m). Kanchenjunga and Jannu Himal can be seen at a distance to the east of Mumbuk / overnight.
Day 10: Numbuk / Nehe Kharka: Trek to Barun Khola / climb gently to the beautiful valley / camp Nehe Kharka (3,650m) / overnight.
Day 11: Nehe Kharka: Rest day / overnight.
Day 12: Nehe Kharka - Sherson: Cross the Barun Khola trek to Ramara (4,250m) / on through pine and rhododendron forests to Sherson / beautiful summit of Makalu / overnight.
Day 13: Sherson / Makalu Base Camp / overnight.
Day 14: Trek Makalu Base Camp / Nehe Kharka / trek back to Nehe Kharka / overnight.
Day 15: Nehe Kharka / Shipton-La: Trek through Mumbuk up to Shipton Camp / some beautiful sunset views of Makalu and Chamlang / overnight.
Day 16: Shipton La Camp / Seduwa: Up early for sunrise panorama / towards Kanchanjunga / trek to Seduwa / overnight.
Day 17: Seduwa / Mure : Cross Arun river via Num to Mure / overnight.
Day 18: Mure / Khandbari: Trek down along the ridge to Khandbari / overnight.
Day 19: Khandbari / Tumlingatar: Trek 2 hours to Tumlingatar / fly back to Kathmandu in the afternoon / transfer hotel / overnight.
Day 20: Depart for onward destination.
